hello here. Thanks for comment and letting me to put more links to other blogs and pages about Spirulina. Blogs in this website touch various aspects of things, items and topics which may enrich our lives.

In short, Spirulina is blue- green algae. It grows naturally in Africa, Central America. Aztecs and Mayans consumed it. Spirulina grows in warm and alkaline waters. Flamingoes feed and flourish with wild algae founded in lakes. Look how they are skinny.

Nowadays, factories grow Spirulina in ponds where strict regulations and supervision are established to ensure the quality of Spirulina.

Of course, people who live by the Lake Chad, consume Spirulina. It is harvested from lake, dried and sold as dried cakes in native markets around Lake Chad, Africa.

Spirulina is a nutraceutical food. Algae is easily digested and absorbed thanks to tiny membrane of Spirulina cell. You can check about Spirulina contents in the blog Spirulina and Nutrition.

What is about iron, scientists found out that commonly used iron sulfate contains less iron as Spirulina. Studies were done with animals and humans. Everywhere Spirulina helped deal with anemia, iron deficiency.

All the best, be healthy and wealthy, Nemira

I got lost. What exactly is spirulina? Where is it found? How did they discover that it was iron rich? Why is it the best iron supplement? There was too much of best iron supplement & not enough explanation of why it was to convince me to buy it. The picture is good but maybe a picture of how it's collected?

Hello, Marcus. Your experience reminds me my friend who did not like Spirulina powder. Smoothies are best way to hide taste of Spirulina. Bananas are big helpers. Adding some lemon would help to hide taste of Spirulina. It depends on person when questions are about taste. We all have anatomically the same taste buds, but we like different things. The value of Spirulina overcomes all doubts because you can change the taste adding to smoothies various fruits or vegetables. Strawberries, raspberries, oranges have great taste.

What I like about Spirulina that you can use it inside and outside. Spirulina is used in cosmetics as rich in product. Everybody can put on skin Spirulina' s powder, keep foe awhile. Spirulina refreshes and may rejuvanate texture of skin.

Proteins in Spirulina is big deal because proteins are vital for our bodies. Spirulina is easily absorbed and proteins go straight into liver without long absorbtion in the digestive system.

All the best, be healthy and wealthy, Nemira

I think spirulina is an awesome superfood! I tried it for the first time a few years ago, I bought it in dried powder form and not in capsules because I could then get more for the same price.

I quickly learned that pure spirulina tastes very bad to be honest, and I had a big bag of it haha. I was unsuccessful at masking the taste, but what did actually work quite well was using it in green smoothies since it complimented the taste.

I bought the spirulina because I could understand it had amazing health benefits and as you write here it is a great iron source. Spirulina also has a ridiculously high amount of protein, which I think is quite cool :P
