Cordyceps Sinensis is a living creature and the compound of the genus of fungus. The fungus attacks the larva of specific insects. This fungus grows on the larva of insects. The fungus converts the larva to a sclerotium. The fruiting body of Cordyceps Sinensis produces from a sclerotium. You can call Cordyceps half mushroom, half caterpillar.
The evolution cycle for Cordyceps takes two years. Cordyceps grows and evolves in the high mountain regions. There are more than 350 Cordyceps related species found on the Earth.
Chinese people call him the gift of God. I believe them.
The book Ben Cao Bei Yao, written and published in 1694 by Wang Ang, has illustrations of Cordyceps Sinensis.
Previously, the Cordyceps was for the indulgence of Chinese imperators.
Nowadays, the Cordyceps is available for everybody who wants to be well and sound.
Personal experience
My first encounter with Cordyceps was ten years ago. I came to Chicago without knowledge of the temperature roller coaster. In the daytime, the temperature was high. In the evening, the temperature dropped down and was cold. The difference between temperatures was 30 degrees. I caught a cold and could not warm up.
I had a bottle from Tianshi company with Cordyceps capsules. I did not want to be sick. I took them, and after a couple of days, I was sound, alive, and kicking

The demand for Cordyceps Sinensis is high. Nowadays, Cordyceps Sinensis and other Cordyceps species grow in scientific laboratories. There are the same conditions for soil and air quality as in the mountains of China.
You can find natural Cordyceps on the market, but the price will be high. Cordyceps cultivated in certificated laboratories has the same effect.
Cordyceps as a part of herbal medicine
I found many articles where doctors recognize this miracle of Nature.
Indications for Cordyceps Sinensis
- Conditions after chemotherapy.
- Lungs, bronchus, tuberculosis.
- Problems with heart and blood vessels.
- Problems with kidneys.
- Problems with the liver.
- The transplantation of organs.
- The intoxication.
- The stressful situations, impotence, and aging before time.
When I read these indications in the books, I did not wonder why the Emperors used Cordyceps exclusively for themselves. They wanted to be healthy and young for as long as possible.
The resource about Cordyceps from NCBI
NCBI is the National Center for Biotechnology Information. NCBI is a branch of the National Institutes of Health. According to Wikipedia, the NCBI accommodates a series of databases. These databases are relevant to biotechnology and are valuable resources for biomedical tools and services. The mentioned book, Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects, is from the NCBI database.
Cordyceps is an herbal drug now
The book Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects provides updated information on the biological activity of traditional remedies and herbal supplements.
The Cordyceps Sinensis takes a respectful place in this book.
There are benefits, explained in a detailed and comprehensive way.
Cordyceps has an anti-tumor activity
Tumors, malicious and not, are not welcome. Unfortunately, they show up unexpectedly and spoil or destroy the lives of millions of innocent people. In the book Herbal Medicine: Biomedical and Clinical Aspects, the authors demonstrate the antitumor effects of Cordyceps Sinensis.
What is interesting is that Cordyceps has an antitoxic effect on tumor cells, but it does not affect healthy cells.
Cordyceps has an immunomodulating effect
I think that the immune system is the best defense system in the world. We lead balanced lives, we eat food without chemicals, and our bodies are thankful. Our immune system can protect us from various intruders.
The research shows that Cordyceps is a bidirectional modulator. It means that Cordyceps regulates the immune system and helps strengthen her when an invasion occurs, such as bacteria or virus attacking the body.
Cordyceps Has Suppressive Effect
Cordyceps has a suppressive effect
The research shows that Cordyceps can be used after the transplantation of organs.
What has Cordyceps to do with the gut?
Strange, but our gut has strong relationships with the brain. People feel in the gut that something is not right.
The gastrointestinal tract is a critical mechanism that is a part of the body. Lymphoid tissue ( GALT) connects the digestive tract with tonsils and adenoids. There is a place for various cells. The research shows that Cordyceps Sinensis helps regulate intestinal bacteria by improving the immune system.
Cordyceps has an antioxidant activity
Oxidants are bad guys who cause aging and harmful chemical reactions. These tiny particles attack molecules and bombard them, pushing the electron from the orbit. It seems like a video game, but for living beings, it brings problems.
Cordyceps has antioxidant activity, which helps prevent aging, inflammation, and other processes in the body.
Cordyceps has antifatigue activity
The fatigue shows us that something is not right with our bodies. Maybe we need to rest or have a check-up with a doctor.
In China, Cordyceps is used to gain vitality and restore health. The recovery can be hastened with the help of Cordyceps. Cordyceps has adaptogenic properties and relieves stress. I think that it is essential nowadays when most human beings are under pressure.
Cordyceps enhances sexual and reproductive activities
Authors of the book Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects show that libido and sexual activity improve thanks to Cordyceps.
Cordyceps expand the blood vessels. It helps with erection. The more blood comes to the penis, the better the sexual function.
Cordyceps helps for kidneys
Chinese think that kidneys are the foundation of the body. I agree with them because if the plumbing does not work, the mess will be here right away.
Cordyceps improves renal function. Some researchers state that Cordyceps has a significant role in renal transplantation.
This herbal drug protects the kidneys and improves renal function.
Active components
When I studied the book Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects, I smiled widely. I understand why I got rid of the dangerous cold years ago. Without Cordyceps, the inflammation of the lungs, irritating arthritis, and more consequences would have bothered me a long time ago.
I was the lucky one.
Cordyceps has many active parts, such as cordycepin, polysaccharides, and ergosterol. They are responsible for bioactivities that help living beings.
Nucleosides, sterols, free fatty acids, and carbohydrates, which are in the Cordyceps, play the dominant role in maintaining human health.
Conclusion
In the book Herbal Medicine: Molecular and Clinical Aspects, the authors presented evidence of why and how Cordyceps works. The authors provided resources that show that Cordyceps has bioactivities such as immunomodulatory, antitumor, antioxidant, sexual and reproductive function improvement, and anti-fatigue effect. Cordyceps have a protective effect on the liver and kidneys.
Previously, Cordyceps Sinensis was used in China. Natural Cordyceps is expensive. The demand for Cordyceps is high, especially nowadays.
Thankfully, cultured mycelia of Cordyceps work efficiently as mycelia found in the natural Cordyceps.
The website WebMD describes Cordyceps as the traditional treatment in Chinese medicine. There is not so much information as from the previously mentioned book Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects. Here, presented evidence from various sources shows that Cordyceps Sinensis is a valuable source of maintaining well-being for humans.
Update: Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D. recommends Cordyceps Sinensis as one of the natural energy support products. Besides ginseng and arctic root or Rhodiola, he recommends this mushroom for ” the people debilitated by age, illness, or injury.”

Fascinating article. I had not encountered any reference to Cordyceps before stumbling across this page. I had cancer two years ago, and I did a lot of research into alternative medicine and supplements that would help ward off the effects of chemotherapy. So I’m glad I found this page. I will look into finding out more about this most beneficial plant. I have friends who are also cancer survivors and health enthusiasts who may enjoy this website!
Thank you,
Hal

Hello, Hal, I am happy that you survived and now you can help others through your website. Nature gives us many options how to help ourselves. I guess that Emperors knew what they consumed and valued Cordyceps as treasure. Health is the most precious thing. Sometimes we forget that we have. We take it for granted.
I wrote about Cordyceps when I read scientific research about this half plant, half insect creature. I knew that Cordyceps is so valuable thing, but after so many evidence I was overwhelmed with this information. Previously I used for myself time from time. Now I think that maybe people would like to read my mentioned book and make conclusions for themselves.
All the best, regards, Nemira.

Wow! I started reading and I was brought back to science class! The more i read, I discovered that this was also a suppliment of some sort. How interesting. I take vitamins everyday but I have never heard of this one, and its natural. Im definitely going to have to try it out, Im a sucker for energy 🙂
Nemira says
Hello here. Sorry that I used some words from chemistry and biology. Without it, I could not explain main ideas about Cordyceps. This creature is a gift from Heaven. I would wish that that people would know more about this mixture of fungus and insects. I guess it can sound little bit scary, but if people feel energetic and well after using this supplement, why not to try it?
There are plenty of different manufacturers. You can find Cordyceps at the Health food stories. One thing is that Cordyceps can be pure, just 100%, or sometimes you can find just half of Cordyceps or less in one capsule.
Pure Cordyceps helps better for your well-being and your wallet too. It is enough to take less capsules of pure Cordyceps, compare with supplements where are just traces of this precious thing.
All the best, take care.

The cordycepss sound like a panacea. I guess you can say I have never been one for vitamins. I think it’s fine for others to believe in this sort of thing but it’s not for me. I only use medicines approved by the fda and prescribed by board certified doctors.
Thank you,
Edward

Hello, I am glad that you have your opinion and you follow doctors orders. The right health professional is the mine of gold. It is the reason why I mention MD Carolyn Dean in this website. The Cordyceps Sinensis as other spiecies of Cordyceps will not solve all problems. Human beings have different genes and lifestyles.
You can take Cordyceps every day but if you lead unbalanced life, nobody and nothing will serve you in a good way. I wrote about Cordyceps because I had a great experience with this nutritional supplement. I know many people who are glad that they had ability to use Cordyceps.
The information never hurt people. We need to use knowledge to make decisions regarding our well-being.
All the best, regards, Nemira.

I never heard about this fungus before, even though I tried many fungus in my life. But from what I read in your post, this one has a lot of possible uses.
I’m interested especially in its detoxification proprieties, as I’ve been looking for a good, natural detoxifiant and…I’m still looking for one. Do you think this fungus would do me good? I mean that it wouldn’t have a lot of slight side effects that many natural substances do.
Thanks for these info 🙂
Nemira says
Hello, Ashley. It is always is good to talk with your health practitioner., with somebody who know your history. I never had bad experience with Cordyceps Sinensis. Thinking that Cordyceps was used by emperors of China thousands years it, it makes me feel confident. These rulers were hard guys who wanted to have power and health. If this fungus would be useless and without benefits, nobody would hear about. Besides it, I used the information about Cordyceps Sinensis from the book Herbal Medicine: Biomolecular and Clinical Aspects.
Here, in USA, people use Cordyceps as food suplement, because FDA does not let to proclaim healing qualities of gifts of Nature, such as Spirulina, Cordyceps, Noni, or Cannabis. What I think is most important that people would have right information from doctors, scientists and researchers. What you discovered in the lab or with tests it shows how it works and what kind of properties these products have. I call it as products because it needs to be in the form of pills, tablets or powders. We can not take Cordyceps Sinensis straight from the mountains of China. It must be tested and proved what it is safe for consumption of humans.
What about of detoxification, there are many options such as clay baths, the usage of Spirulina, enemas, right diet and lifestyle. Cordyceps helps to remove toxins from your body for sure. Anyway, you must consult with your health practitioner.
All the best, Nemira.

I had never even heard of cordyceps before and now I’m really intrigued. From all of the health benefits it seems to promote it would seem that we all should be taking this miracle supplement. I currently take a Tumeric supplement which has some of the same effects but I’m wondering if it’s safe to take both of these at the same time. Are there any potential adverse side effects from taking cordyceps?
Nemira says
Hello here. Cordyceps Sinensis is safe. Cordyceps does not have side effects. Of course if you would live taking just Cordyceps and would eat big amounts of it, you would experience something unpleasant. However, this rule works for everything. If you would drink one glass of wine through dinner, you would benefit from it. If you would consume red wine every day and in big amounts, you would get a red nose, big fat liver and a nice description on the tombstone.
I searched for side effects and I did not found any. Emperors in China would not use Cordyceps if something would be wrong.
Cordyceps is produced in laboratories now because the demand is high. These facilities have the same parameters as in highlands and mountains in China. You can buy Cordyceps Sinensis in the market. Chinese pick Cordyceps and sell on the market. Unfortunately the price is high.
I used Cordyceps Sinensis from Tianshi Health Products, Inc. This company is worldwide and gas high standarts for manufacturing.
Turmeric is great too but the Cordyceps is a winner. All the best, Nemira.
