Magnesium and energy

Magnesium is part of the Krebs cycle. More, magnesium participates in six steps of ATP creation. This activity needs magnesium to work for mitochondria properly. When magnesium is deficient, we feel sluggish because mitochondria do not create enough energy. Magnesium involves activating adenosine triphosphate ATP, the primary energy storage molecule in the body.

Most of us reach for sweets and coffee to keep our moods in check and get energy. It can be worse when soda drinks are consumed in significant quantities. Do you know how much sugar is in one glass of soda? No less, no more than eight spoons will enlighten our day for a few minutes, but after all, we will have a few additional pounds, elevated blood sugar, and up terrible mood because the hunger is not satisfied, and we crave more sweets.

No magnesium, no energy. It seems simple to take magnesium supplements that go straight to cells and satisfy the body’s needs. Cravings would disappear, and the power would be back.

Magnesium and calcium correlation

Magnesium is vital to keep our bones healthy and able to heal after breaks. Unfortunately, plenty of us thinks that calcium is a savior for everything. Healthy bones and vessels would be in perfect condition after taking calcium supplements. Bummer.

Magnesium works together with calcium, especially if we bombard the body with calcium supplements. Why? Magnesium guards cells from the overflow of calcium. It does not open gateways for calcium to enter the cell if there is too much calcium.

You would tell that calcium is excellent; it keeps us secure. Baloney because the excess of calcium clogs and hardens arteries and deposits in soft tissues. You can find breasts as the lump and think it is the world’s end. Often it is calcium deposits. Uh.

I remember one woman who showed a big lump on her shoulder. Later on, it was cleared out that it was the deposit of calcium. Scary.

Cravings for food

Newborn babies and small; children do not consistently crave food. They cry; and ask to eat when they are hungry. Adults, besides many problems, have another one: constant snacking. Most people do not care about when and what to eat. Most important is that it would be crunchy, tasty, and look nice.

We can blame lifestyle, busy schedules, and shortness of free time to sit down and enjoy a beautiful plate of meal with friends or family.

However, the chaos in daily life brings unpleasant consequences into our personal spaces. For example, we gain weight or get allergies from processed food. We can have disturbed sleep because we consume a full dinner at night with a glass of wine to hide stress and tiredness.

Later on, pounds add up, and we are unhappy. What could we do?

The solution is simple. We get all the nutrients with the food; we will not crave more at night. The refrigerator would stay undisturbed, and our stomachs would not bother us at night.

Magnesium and B vitamins play a role in weight loss. They activate enzymes that control digestion, absorption, and elimination of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates.

Can you imagine what happens when bodies lack these nutrients? We overeat, unconsciously searching for missing parts in the food. These parts are essential nutrients. They protect the body and allow it to perform metabolic functions in the best way possible.

I experienced this feeling with chocolate. It is nothing new, but I feel that I cannot survive without chocolate when I lack magnesium. Of course, I can, but I would be in a constant struggle searching for missing nutrients.

Magnesium and insulin

Magnesium participates in the reaction where insulin ushers glucose into cells. Here glucose aids in producing energy for the body.

If magnesium is deficient, levels of insulin and glucose become elevated. Do you know what it means? Unfortunately, glucose must be stored as fat. Yes, there are no jokes.

Most individuals who are obese are deficient in magnesium. They crave nutrients and take the next bite of pizza or donuts, wondering if maybe now they will be satisfied with the food.

It is a vicious cycle when people consume food without nutrients, and the body requires them. You are toasted if you do not provide vital vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, proteins, and fats. Sorry, not like this, but you are pumped as a balloon. Empty calories convert to fat, and voila: favorite jeans stay in the closet. We go to buy something three sizes bigger. We need something to wear, do we?

Magnesium and stress

When individuals gain weight, they are not happy. Sooner or later, the stress and bad mood creep in. When we are stressed, we experience the effects of the hormone cortisol. It is produced by the body when something horrible happens.

Suppose cortisol fluctuates in our body, and metabolic processes slow or shut down, so we cannot lose weight. This action echoes ancient times when hunger and diseases were around. Bodies were used to prepare for food scarcity and saved all energy and nutrients inside. Of course, when you think about bad times, you are stressed, and the body produces cortisol.

The consequence is stored fat and a stubborn body that does not want to give up any gram of resources.

Happily, magnesium can neutralize the effects of stress.

Conclusion

Sufficient magnesium ensures that the body performs at the best possible. Magnesium is the cofactor in 700-800 enzyme systems. These enzymes participate in the body’s metabolic processes. It means that the body utilizes all food most efficiently.

Of course, you cannot survive with pizza and cakes because the best magnesium in the world will not help you. However, having and consuming nutritious food in one hand and magnesium with vitamin B in another, you will be energetic and perform needed tasks efficiently. Your metabolic processes will be undisturbed and smooth because there is no deficiency of the one most crucial mineral, magnesium.

When your metabolism is uninterrupted, you will not have problems with weight. Of course, there are more aspects and clues about why people are obese. You can read about different cases here.
