Magnesium for music lovers would help them enjoy entertainment longer. Musicians are exposed to vibrations and loud sounds when they play in bands or alone. It does not matter what kind of music it is. It can be hip-hop, classical, or rock.
What does magnesium have in common with loud music?
According to Carolyn Dean, the author of the book The Magnesium Miracle, magnesium plays an essential role in protecting musicians from the side effects of magnesium deficiency.
She points out that loud music can increase the urinary secretion of magnesium. It happens not just once, but it lasts a few days after exposure.
I thought that just craft beer could affect our kidneys. Unfortunately, loud music brings not just a pleasure.
Musicians and the importance of magnesium
Musicians must take magnesium supplements. If they do not accept them, symptoms of magnesium deficiency will occur. Not so much fun, yes?
Musicians are famous people who have habits that do not do well with a healthy lifestyle: smoking, drinking, the drug usage prompt the disappearance of magnesium.
Magnesium is the best option to escape conditions such as insomnia, depression, or restlessness. Magnesium does help fear and anxiety disappear.
Magnesium for music lovers
Dr. Carolyn Dean mentions that musicians experience anxiety and fear before the performance. It is strange because if you like what you do, why be afraid? Anyway, she knows better about this issue. Doctor Carolyn Dean researched many scientific books and articles about the importance of magnesium.
The usage of Inderal
Inderal is a drug, a beta-blocker. Inderal suppresses the fear.
When you fear something, as in this case, musicians are afraid of performance, and adrenal glands release adrenaline. The adrenaline lets us run as fast as we want. It is at times when ancestors run from dinosaurs.
Muscles are ready to run or to fight. Unfortunately, musicians are supposed to be calm and concentrate on what they do. Inderal decreases fear but causes constriction of bronchial tubes. It is dangerous for people who have asthma.
Small doses of Inderal do not harm, but higher amounts can affect those addicted to beta-blockers.
Magnesium for music lovers
According to Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D. Inderal has plenty of side effects. Unfortunately, musicians do not think about it. They concentrated on performance. The outcome cannot be so pleasant if players use this drug in more significant doses and for a prolonged time.
Side effects of Inderal are
- Decreased sexual function
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Weakness
- Drowsiness
More seldom side effects of Inderal are
- Anxiety
- Chronic heart failure
- Constipation
- Depression
- Nausea
- Nervousness
- Vomiting
- the sense of cold
Carolyn Dean’s book The Magnesium Miracle can find more side effects.
Magnesium is the best option to escape these conditions. Magnesium does help fear and anxiety disappear. Finally, the body gets what it needs. The price would be too high if musicians would take Inderal instead of magnesium.
My recommendation #1
ReMag is magnesium created by Carolyn Dean, M.D., N.D. This mineral is so tiny that it can go straight to the cell, avoiding the intestine. Some of the other magnesium supplements have a laxative effect.
I guess that musicians do not want to run often to the bathroom during the performance if they take a different type of magnesium supplement. Besides ReMag, magnesium citrate works helpfully. Magnesium citrate is safe because it does not have a harsh laxative effect.
Dr.Carolyn Dean thinks that stopping Inderal suddenly is dangerous. It is better to check with the doctor and decide how to wean it off and increase doses of magnesium.
Magnesium is a vital nutrient. Magnesium is quickly absorbed and does not have side effects. The benefits of magnesium are enormous. Magnesium for music lovers gives relaxation and calmness.
How about you? Did you take magnesium?
Update. The famous musician Eric Clapton let his fans know about his problems with hearing and how it affects his performance. You can read about it here.

Hello, Bonto, how are you? Yes, I did not know too about magnesium influence which is presented so wide in Dr. Carolyn Dean’s book The Magnesium Miracle. It seems that we have all solutions by our side just we did not about miraculous abilities of his mineral from the nature. Yes, musicians are artists and artists think about music not about food supplements. Maybe some of them have assistants who take care of them but in the beginning the music is a priority to them.
The magnesium is a relatively cheap food supplement. It is easy to use. Magnesium does not have side effects what makes it superior against chemicals.
All the best, take care, Nemira.

Isn’t it interesting that the side effects of Inderal are the symptoms that magnesium can also help treat? So you take the Inderal for one thing and end up needing something else for all the side effect, but if you just start with taking a magnesium supplement, it will be so much better for you AND not have the nasty side effects! Great info here.

Hello, Lisa. Yes, I was surprised with information provided in Dr. Carolyn Dean’s books. Everything seems so simple. I wondered why people do not know these things which could help them stay in the shape and avoid troubles. The magnesium helps in so many cases. It is fascinating. When I see that so many musicians went to the heaven using cocktails of hard drugs, thoughts about better use of food supplements such as magnesium pop out in my head. Artists always have been people who think about creativity, not about health. They want to perform in the best way. The price is huge for them and for us because we lose so many talented musicians year after year. Many of them were relatively young and could live longer creating great music for their fans.
I hope that people would pay attention to their well-being and would decide to solve problems with simple minerals and other nutrients at first.
All the best, Nemira.

I never realized that consumption of magnesium would help in reducing anxiety and fear that happens to us most of the times. I thought musicians had it all right and never feared the stage since they were used to it but after going through your post I have realized that it is equally important to take care of the body and consuming magnesium supplements really help.
Nemira says
Hello, Shrey. I guess that you heard plenty of unpleasant news that one or another musician went to heaven. Why? Fans discovered that their loved ones were addicted to antidepressants or other chemicals which helped them to cope with problems. I can understand if it was one or two of musicians. Unfortunately, there are plenty of them. Magnesium is a simple mineral from nature. Magnesium participates in body metabolism. Without him, simple functions such as muscle relaxation, calcium release to the cell would be impossible. There are just cople of drops of reasons in knowledge ocean about importance of magnesium, Dr. Carolyn Dean perfectly explains everything in her book The Magnesium Miracle. Musicians could escape feelings such as anxiety, fear or depression with the usage of magnesium. ReMag is magnesium, which goes straight to the cell because it’s small size lets him through cell’s membrane.

Dear Nemira,
this post is very interesting because I am doing a lot of sport since many years and I know about the positive and vital effects of magnesium. Besides I play the guitar with headphones and really wasn´t aware that musicians need magnesium because of the music. In my case, magnesium gives me the energy I need and avoids sore muscles and a faster recovery after my workouts.
Thank you so much, today I have learned something new.

Hello, Simon. Yes, magnesium is a simple mineral, but performs as the magician. Previously I did not pay attention to the importance of nutrients but after reading numerous books written by Carolyn Dean, I finally recognize the importance of our health. Plenty of musicians finished their journey on Earth earlier. Maybe they would create more music if they would lead healthy lifestyle and avoid shortcuts such as chemicals. There are cases where nobody can help except drugs, but the usage of vital nutrients could prevent from deterioration of health. All the best, Nemira.

Wow. So you learn something new everyday huh? This is so interesting. So many do not even consider what the most basic of day to day activities can do to our bodies. Its great that you are putting this information out to educate and inform people about hazards they do not even know they are at risk for. thank you
Nemira says
Hi here. Yes, I am always fascinated when I found something interesting about our bodies, mind and nutrition. There are so many great books which contain information about ways to improve ourselves. We can stay on the same path and with the same consequences but we can try to look from the broader perspective. Instead jumping on chemicals why not to use nutrients from Nature? In this case the magnesium comes to the picture. I use magnesium for myself and see positive results.
All the best, Nemira

Nice article about musician’s and why they too need magnesium. Who would have thought that?
But it does make sense because there are so many advantages in taking magnesium.
I love magnesium I have also read the book too. I use magnesium in my bath to relax and help soothe my body and help with absorption.
I also take a powder to help with cramps and constipation.
I also use a get to rub into tired muscles.
There are so many benefits.
Love your article and keep up the interesting work.

Wow! 20 years later and I find this out. It’s so crazy how things work in life.
Growing up with head phones in, you always heard “turn the music down your hurting your eardrums”. Never would have thought it could effect your kidneys too.
I found this article to be very interesting, mind-blowing, and educational! Thanks for the great read! I’m going to definitely spread the word about this 🙂

Hello, Jorda. I knew about importance of magnesium but not to this extent. After reading book The Magnesium Miracle I got bigger picture and see how is important to protect our bodies. It is a pity that so many wonderful musicians got hurt with various chemicals. The magnesium, simple mineral could help in many ways. I would recommend ReMag which goes to the cells so easily.
All the best, Nemira
