Civilization brings in toxins, and the body can suffer after constant exposure to various chemicals. According to scientists, over thirty thousand synthetic chemicals are in the environment. There are plenty of ways to experience chemicals incorporated into our everyday lives.

Scientists recognized the danger of toxins a few decades ago. The leading expert, Samuel Epstein, stated that people are exposed to thousands of toxins.

Sometimes people do not feel the silent influence and are suddenly awake when got allergies, chronic diseases, or feel tired without reason.

I wouldn’t say I like scary stories about people who suffer and cannot help themselves. Unfortunately, it is a reality, especially if we do not pay attention to our surroundings, what we eat, and where we live.

The movie Erin Brockovich paints a grim picture of what happens when people do not analyze events and agree with everything they tell them.

Do people have the choice to change the environment or circumstances?


Yes, everybody can take care of the body to less or more extent. We can choose what to drink, eat, how to spend our free time, get rid of bad habits, and select the tools that help us to protect ourselves against an invasion of various toxins.

There are significant areas where toxins lurk and can do actual damage. These areas are:

  •   Food
  •   Air
  •   Water
  •   Electronics

Food


Everybody knows that a can of Coca-Cola contains eight spoons of sugar. Usually, people drink more than one can of soda.

Most people understand that junk food does not bring any nutrients, only empty calories that become fat. However, fast food chains enjoy popularity and do not lack customers.

Gluten becomes a well-known risk to those who are allergic to particular grains. It seems that gluten, according to Suzzane Somers, can “cause brain inflammation and increase  the risk for an autoimmune attack on your brain tissue.”

There are plenty of articles that point out the danger of chemicals to our bodies.

People do not believe or forget that everybody, rich or poor, can put real food on the table without harming their wallets and breaking the bank. Look at other countries such as Europe or Asia. You rarely will find obese people in such quantities as in North America.

Of course, with the help of new fast-food chains in some European countries, obesity can show up without a doubt.

What can people do about it?


  •  First, recognize chemicals and toxins in the food.
  •  Find ways to get free from chemicals  in the meals

Do we need that? I do not think so.

To get a complete picture of the harm of water is advisable to watch the movie Erin Brockovich. It is entertainment and an eye-opener at the same time. It does not cover all problems associated with water quality. It does visually paint the picture of naiveness and lack of information.

This movie opens the curtain in one play with people’s lives. However, there are plenty of different toxins in the water.

Fluoride, chlorine, antibiotics, and heavy metals are toxins that pollute our bodies. What stinks about them is that these compounds accumulate in the body and do not want to leave us without proper detoxification.

Air


Air is another way to get toxins. It is no secret that there are plenty of individuals who plenty of individuals are allergic to pollen or hay. The smell of grass is unbelievable and tempting; to others, it is a running nose and puffy eyes.

Smog comes from cars, factories, fires, or the mixture in between and poses a danger to our bodies in the long run. If we breathe once, the lungs and bronchioles will get rid of disturbing material. Contrarily, when we continuously breathe in polluted air, we can develop various diseases.

Do you remember the horror movie”Fog”? It is about the unnatural mist which engulfed the coastal town. Everybody who stepped and wandered into the fog had been mysteriously killed.

Now, this type of movie has become a reality. The University of California in Santa Cruz found dangerous mercury levels in coastal fog.

The story started starts with a leisurely bicycle ride. The scientist felt that his eyeglasses get wet when cruising around. He decided to check out what was in the water. The lab ran a few times tests because of the disbelief they found in it.  Before, it was the research of mountain lions. Scientists find in cats dangerous levels of mercury. How do lions get mercury in their system?

Does it seem simple? Yes, it is a food chain. Unfortunately, human is no exception.   We eat plants and animals who feed on them too.

Nowadays, everybody cannot survive without a smartphone, computer, or video game. There are plenty of conveniences using these devices. However, there is a dark side too. The radiation from Wi-Fi can make people sensitive.

French scientists found out that people who continuously use phones for their work have a higher risk of getting glioma and meningioma.

Besides phones, smart meters pose a danger to everybody who agrees to have them installed close to the house. Extensive EFM radiation surrounds people 24 hours all year long.

Wi-Fi in public transportation and airplanes can disturb the well-being of many people.

Susanne Somers, a health advocate, cites Elizabeth Plourde, Ph.D. She points out that the number of people complaining about insomnia, migraines, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, and rashes on this skin has increased.

The famous doctor Stephen Sinatra states that EMF can disturb the heart rhythm, atrial fibrillation can occur, and DNA damage is possible. Experts think that EMF can open up the blood-brain barrier.

A few years ago, Doctor Stephen Sinatra had a son who was on the brink of death. The doctor thinks that the mysterious illness started after long hours on Wall Street, surrounded by cellphones. It was electrical pollution. His son’s digestive tract shut down, hormones too, pituitary gland was out. The father tried everything to save his son. Fortunately, he came back after lengthy treatment.

Not everybody is lucky as the doctor’s son. Sometimes people lack money for simple things.

We cannot live in caves or in places where is no civilization. However, we can escape the side effects of living in the cities and industrial areas.

How is bottled water safe? Do we need to worry about it? What is better: tap water or bottled water? Bottled water gained popularity when some celebrities endorsed it. Before them, Nestle introduced a single-use PET bottle that attracted customers. Americans spent $31 billion last year on bottled water.

Why do people prefer bottled water over tap water?

One of the biggest reasons is water safety. Many people think municipal water could be contaminated with chemicals, especially chlorine, lead, or arsenic. Besides, the bottled water industry ignited fears pointing out that tap water is suitable for irrigation and cooking.

Avoidance of sugary drinks


Another reason to choose bottled water is the willingness to avoid sugary drinks.

Yes, people in this way are right because sugar consumption leads to chronic diseases.

The usage of sugar creates plenty of problems besides diabetes and obesity. It removes vital nutrients and creates an addiction to consuming more sweets.

Independent tests showed in 1999 that 1 in 4  of more than one hundred brands violated California limits for arsenic or other carcinogens. You do not need to be a scientist to know about the harm of arsenic.

How is bottled water safe? This stuff, I mean arsenic, this stuff is found naturally in Earth’s crust, water, air, and animals. However, inorganic arsenic can be dangerous because of how it is produced. Industries use arsenic for various purposes, such as smelters, herbicides, or pesticides.

Is a plastic bottle safe?


Nah, especially if these plastic bottles are kept in hot areas such as the sun. Studies show that antimony trioxide, a carcinogen, may be released into the water if bottles are kept too long, such as five days. Federal limits are 167 degrees after five days, but it happens after a few hours in some cases.

Think about plastic bottles left in the car on a hot summer day. I saw some people put these bottles back into the cooler and reuse them again. No wonder why various environmental illnesses surround us.

Consumer Reports have a story about the study made in 2019. It shows that microscopic pieces of plastic could leach toxins into the water. People, who drank only bottled water, consumed 90,000 microplastics annually. Individuals who guzzled only tap water got only 4,000.

What is horrible about these tiny plastic pieces is that they help create reproductive problems, obesity, and other nasty things.

How does tap water become bottled water?

A few years ago, I heard a saying that bottled water is the same as water from the tap. Previously I sneered at the tap water because of a lack of knowledge. I was happy with San Pellegrino, which comes in glass bottles.

Thankfully,   my wallet and my body got better alternatives because of learning about the benefits of minerals.

I will talk about it later, but for now, let’s check how tap water becomes suitable for famous brands.

I never was crazy about  Coca-Cola, except for the company’s commercials at Christmas time and the beautiful design of bottles, or about Nestle, which strips communities and lakes taking water for their own needs.

However, when I read in Consumer Reports article about the usage of tap water by these famous brands, I was confused. Is it a crime or just fooling consumers by giving tap water names such as Dasani, Aquafina, Poland Spring, or Zephyrhills Natural Spring Water?

Yes, you understand, right.

Companies use water from the tap, create a brand name, and make a nice profit. Besides, companies such as Nestle drain out lakes and local people’s resources.

How about tests of bottled water?


According to Consumer Reports, “Government regulators generally don’t test bottled water themselves, and bottled water makers aren’t required to publish their results.”

Besides, companies are not responsible for making the results of tests available to the public.

What does it mean?


It means that there is no consumer protection at this point. You depend on the generosity and sanity of manufacturers who can be honest or think about profits. You heard plenty of stories about people being left behind when something serious and profound happens. The city of Flint is one of having this reputation.

Of course, I  doubt if tap water from Flint could go into bottled water because of the color. However, plenty of toxins do not appear visible to the human eye.

Funny story about Fuji water


It is up to you to decide how much fun is here, especially if you would be a customer who uses this particular Fiji bottled water.

In 2006, Fiji had an ad that stated that water is good in bottles because of the different origin, not taken from the tap in Cleveland.

Officials in Cleveland did not get excited over this statement and checked their tap water and water in Fiji bottles.

What do you think they found?


Cleveland’s municipal water was good. Fiji bottled water had arsenic in it. How about that?

The majority of the USA has access to safe tap water, except there are real problems in some communities. The lack of investment in water systems leads to disasters such as Flint or Hudson, Mass.

It is good news for tap water users that systems that provide water to 90 percent of USA  consumers are safe. Only less than ten percent had at least one health-based quality violation.

You can learn about your tap water safety by receiving annual water quality called the Consumer Confidence Report.  If you do not get one, you need to contact the local water supplier. People who rent can ask for reports from their landlords.

Testing kits


It is advisable to test the water using test kits because of the lead danger. Why? Municipalities can provide excellent water to you, but lead can reach your water from pipes that go into your house.

EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) recommends using a certified lab. Sometimes communities can provide test kits free of charge.

Filters


Filtering tap water prevents you from headaches and possible problems coming with contamination from bottled water or the tap, mainly if you do not test it.

Filters are various depending on the quality and price.

According to Consumer Reports, osmosis filters are the most reliable. They can remove arsenic, lead, bacteria, chlorine, and other chemicals.

It is essential to know and ensure that filters are certified to NSF International standards by an independent lab.

What does it mean?


It means that these labs are not associated with manufacturers and do not have influence from them.

Water is the main staple for humans. However, we need to be conscious of its quality of it. As you see, there are no strict requirements from regulation agencies about testing. Bottled water seems convenient, especially when you see celebrities doing that. The majority of bottled water sold today appears to be safe.  However, you are the most important person who must have responsibility for your health.

It is an adage about first taking care of yourself, and then, later on, others will help you too.

Having filters at your home or the renting place will save you from the problems of being sick and, at the same time, will save you money when you refill your glass bottle without the need to go to the store.

I have more to do besides worrying about my health. The first time I stumbled upon magnesium citrate was two decades ago. I walked with one person who could not stop talking. Usually, I do not experience headaches, but at this time, I got one.

I excused myself politely and marched to the nearest pharmacy. I bought magnesium citrate. I remembered thinking, what the heck is with magnesium? Anyway, I mixed the powder with water and swallowed. The taste was good.

Tips for better sleep efficiency are simple. There are no-brainer and new inventions.  People of all ages must sleep for at least 7-9 hours. During sleep, the whole body rests and rejuvenates. A good night’s rest depends on a few factors.

Turn off the electricity


You know that keeping the phone close to your head can affect the brain. It can interrupt sleep and harm health. There are cases associated with tumors after continually holding phones by the side.

Electricity can affect sleep because the electromagnetic field is unnatural for the body.

Besides, the blue light from devices interrupts the production of melatonin, the sleeping hormone. This hormone promotes sleep.

Have the last meal at six p.m.

Everybody knows that dealing with procrastination is not the real thing. Why? It is a waste of time. Because sooner or later, we need to face a problem and deal with it. It is not easy to meet issues, but we will feel refreshed and energized if we manage our tasks and challenges.

Just try it


Always consider your options and ways to avoid doing this or creating a burden for us. We constantly worry about how it will be. We are continuously concerned about how it will be or what kind of consequences can be. It is better to try and see how we can finish what we started. We procrastinate with our plans to tell somebody how we appreciate them and love them. We think our lives will improve after one or a few months, after New Year or retirement.

The best time is present


Best thinkers and writers told said that the best time is now. Time to start a new job, lose weight, find friends, fix your bed, learn the original language or how to grow strawberries, or get rid of old things which clutter your closets and minds.

Of course, it is great not to try water with both feet. It would help if you made plans and contemplated them, but not the whole eternity. Time is a precious thing. We can not buy it or save it in a safety deposit box. Sometimes, when we wait too long, our opportunities can be slim. Taking action is the best thing to move you from the dead point. Do you know this old saying that Rome was not built in a few days? Everything starts with small steps.

Do not postpone what you want to do


It is excellent when you can be polite with yourself but at the same time encourage and push yourself towards the desired goal. I do not know anybody happy postponing things close to my heart.

Live your life now. Enjoy every minute of it. Do what you always dreamed of doing because the latter can be other situations or possibilities that can disappear. Of course, life always opens new doors after closing old ones.

I guess that nobody needs the explanation that Harvard is. This word is associated with old history, scientific discoveries, and famous alumni.

An update. Nowadays, it is a controversial institution that supports the idea of blocking the sun. Climate change, anyone?

I got a newsletter from them because I guess they send it to all individuals who care about well-being. I will go through all the topics presented, and you can decide whether it works for you or not.

Be careful taking supplements


Supplements are a few billion worth of industries. Understandably, everybody presents their product as the best and most beneficial. However, there are plenty of details hidden under pompous words.

Supplements with a neutral scientific foundation, evidence, and positive customer feedback that their health improved more than before could benefit individuals.

Of course, a placebo effect can work better as a natural supplement. It is proven. However, accessories such as magnesium cannot be replaced with positive thoughts. If you need minerals, you need. The body cannot get them from the air or the imagination.

Doctors William Goldwag and Marquetta Hungerford of the Center for Holistic and Preventive Medicine in Stanton, California, adapted Spirulina to their weight-loss program. They saw empirical success with their patients.

According to Dr. Passwater, Ph.D., amino acid structure in Spirulina could directly impact levels of neurotransmitters, which control mood, appetite, and ambition in the brain. Brain chemistry can be changed thanks to Spirulina.

I call it a miracle because of knowing how it is difficult to resist the temptation of food.

How does it work? In the body,  amino acids are broken down during digestion. Then they are resembled by their metabolic processes to build human proteins.

  •   Spirulina contains vitamin A, which is essential in preventing eye diseases;
  •   iron and vitamin B12, useful helpful in treating hypoferric anemia and pernicious anemia;
  •  to alleviate premenstrual syndrome and an immune system stimulation.

    Edible microalgae such as Spirulina are rich in protein, lipid, polysaccharide, fiber, microelements, and bioactive substances. Spirulina is an excellent source of vital nutrients. It is a high source of proteins. When spirulina has 65-71 percent protein, beef has only 22 percent.

You lose weight without struggling and craving sweets because algae provide the body with all the needed elements for metabolism.

How does it happen?

The body’s metabolism is balanced. All processes go smoothly and efficiently. Spirulina delivers excellent nutrition four for our bodily needs.

There is no need to store fat just in case you have a food shortage. It happens when we consume junk food and drink excessively sugary drinks. How to use Spirulina?


  Spirulina comes in the form of powder, tablets, and capsules. Spirulina is a food. Usually, people consume 6 to 10 grams of Spirulina. It would be 12 to 20 tablets daily. I used the powder or tablets. Pills work for me better because I can eat them like candies. They slowly melt in the mouth. The powder usually has a slight metallic taste that does not appeal to some users.

Some people like to add Spirulina to smoothies. The metallic taste disappears when some banana is involved or another sweet fruit.
