At first,  we can follow them, but later, who knows, maybe you or somebody else will go further, discovering new plateaus.

Seneca, who lived hundreds of years ago, mentioned the benefits of reading. He told me that it is a privilege to hear from famous people who put their thoughts into books. Seneka is proper because being in the company of intelligent people prompts you to follow their example or reach for higher goals.

I think that everybody who likes to read or wants to explore this mysterious and fascinating world of books has some favorite authors. My favorite authors are Charles Dickens, Paulo Coelho, Earl Nightingale, Robin Sharma, and Deepak  Chopra. I have some more readings from Mark Twain and Khalil Gibran, J.R.R. Tolkien and Christian Hans Andersen, and David R. Hawkins. These guys are pillars of my life, friends, mentors, and advisers.

A couple of years ago, I discovered Timothy Ferriss. His book Tools of Titans is an incredible source of information. It helps in dark times and when I need encouragement and inspiration to move on from point A to point B.

To Give Thanks With A Grateful Heart

To give thanks with a grateful heart lets you live life in humility and a constant appreciation for everything you have. It can be strange, but the more you are thankful and content more you will receive back. Maybe it works as a releasing mechanism because you are relaxed and calm. Positive feelings create a peaceful environment. There is no hate or disappointment. You are okay with everything that you have. I like the saying: I am thankful for everything I have now, and I am ready for more.

Interestingly, our gratitude allows entering into our world for new positive events, people, or things. It works as the Law of Attraction. We invite more enjoyable things in life.

There are plenty of things that cannot be explained. It happens. However, we can feel that it is good for us and not. The gratitude for everything opens floodgates for exciting news, events, and miracles. When we give thanks with a grateful heart, we do not feel the tension. We are relaxed and content with what we have. We do not need anything more. This state of mind lets us accept everything that life others to us. We can see the broader perspective because we do not create limits and do not build walls between us and the outer world.

Choose the positive attitude


If we behaved in an opposite way, like complaining about the unfairness of life, we would constrict ourselves in the cage of frustration and hate. I guess that you met people who prefer complaining about overjoy or gratitude. They do not appreciate what they have. These people want more and more. It is not enough for them to have a few things. Louise Hay, a famous writer, and speaker, said that positive thoughts are like seeds. It takes time and constant care to see results. It is not enough once to think positive thoughts. We must keep the right attitude and expectancy in check without letting negative influences destroy the positive environment around us.

We cannot see what surrounds us, but we can intuitively feel what is happening. Our thoughts are the garden. If we pick all the weeds and gather all the weeds and take care of them, we will invite all good things into our lives.

Give respect to small things


Anyway, many people feel not respected enough for their work efforts and family lives. If we do something additional, or we correctly complete our tasks, it would be so lovely if the boss or manager would tell old us how to do or correctly complete our tasks jobs; it would be so beautiful if the boss or manager would say to us how they appreciate it. This word thank you would be worthy of gold.

It does not matter who you are.  The child,  wife, boss, leader in the big corporation, seniors,  and postal workers are all hungry for signs of gratitude. Being polite and giving thanks for help or support makes invisible bonds between human beings.

Find time for thank you


We will feel better continually giving thanks. It makes us open to all details of what surrounds us. In this rich and beautiful but sometimes intense environment, we forget why we are here and what kind of purpose we have. By observing our behavior toward other people, we can stop and can analyze our characters, at the same time improving them.

You can give thanks in various ways. Thank you words during the prayer,  thank you letters, gentle words or phone calls,  the kind gesture such as asking if we could be in service for somebody would be appreciated and valued. Sometimes we do not have the opportunity to be thankful. Could you do it now? It is never too late to express your gratitude to somebody who helped you.

Positive examples inspire and create a chain of occurring events. I know that it is not easy to start behaving differently. However, the payback is enormous. People mimic each other. Besides it, a real attitude attracts positive things too.  Of course, not always everything can go smoothly without interruptions. However, you will win in both situations. If somebody does not agree with you, it will be okay because you will not let spoil the moment. You will make it go and will move on.

On another side, people are attracted to those who create a favorable environment. It is pleasant to communicate or work with individuals who are grateful, content grateful, and content individuals. There is no fear or nervousness, just acceptance and willingness to see the glass half full compared to half empty.

Individuals who prefer to give thanks with a grateful heart win in life’s lottery. Why? They do not waste time thinking about other successes or victories or contemplating over that if something would have happened in another way. It is a great way to move on and be thankful for everything.

Are Twinkies Healthy?

Are Twinkies healthy? I never heard about Twinkies until I read the fascinating article written by Steven Bertoni for FORBES. Are Twinkies healthy? It was my first thought because I am more on the healthy side. What I mean by this is that I prefer real food over-processed. I like to cook at home and pack my lunch. When I saw on TV that Twinkies would disappear from shelves, I was surprised by how people reacted to this news. It was like mourning something precious that was lost.

Are Twinkies special?


I asked my friends what was unique about Twinkies.  They told me that it was junk food. Okay, I thought more people would switch to healthy alternatives, such as squash or carrots, organic meat, or eggs. It is a joke regarding squash because nobody survives with few vegetables.  However, choosing real food over bleached flour and sugar would make a lot healthier life for us.

After reading the article on FORBES, I think that the revival of Twinkies is a unique event. It is a story that forces me to believe that there are so many aspects of life that are not easy to grasp. This brand has 1 billion in revenues, millions of fans, and 80 years of legacy. It is understandable because  Twinkies has connections with a few generations.

Twinkies are part of pop culture. I could moralize how it is unhealthy, but people do not care what doctors tell them. It is said that old habits die hard.

Long journey for Twinkies


The history of Twinkies started in 1930  during the  Great Depression. The Howdy Doody Show and  Batman comics made Twinkies a part of pop culture. One interesting fact about them is that Twinkies were associated with the assassination of San Francisco Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk. Lawyers of killer Dan White argued that junk food, full of sugar, triggered his psychosis.

What kind of impact on humans does sugar have on you, you? You can check Nancy Appleton’s book Lick The Sugar Habit. She has a website, too, www.nancyappleton.com. Here she provides reasons why sugar is bad for us. She takes information from scientific journal articles. A few things which attracted my attention were that sugar is an addictive substance and that sugar could be intoxicating, similar to alcohol.

Back to Twinkies. They were made by the Hostess company, which changed owners over the years. International Telephone& Telegraph, Ralston Purina, and Ripplewood Holdings were owners of Twinkies. Unfortunately, despite its earlier popularity, Hostess Brand Inc. filed for bankruptcy in January 2012.  Operating losses, pension expenses, and the baker union’s strike triggered the end of Twinkies’ lovable brand.

Most people probably do not mind the disappearance of unhealthy food. Finally,  people can switch to healthy, nutritious meals and start to live wholesome lives. We are beginning a  new life, w; and active, we will be bewill be fit  Twinkies, we are beginning a  new life, we will be healthy and active and lead aspiring lives. It is funny that what works for you or me is unacceptable for somebody who loves Twinkies. Scientists can explain relationships with foods like Twinkies as something that gives comfort but takes away well-being.

Anyway, C. Dean Metropoulos came to the rescue of Twinkies.  For 35 years, he recovered many brands from disasters, such as PAM cooking spray. In 2000,  FORBES named him Mr. Shelf Space. He created an estimated  $2.2 billion fortune for himself. Impressive, isn’t it?

Twinkies were born again. Now they are produced with other cakes in clean, spacious factories. They have a  prolonged shelf life, thanks to the formula of starches invented by the excellent lab of Corbin, and reduced costs. Shelf life doubled. Now it is suitable for 65 days.

It is exceptional how Twinkies came back after four months when Metropoulos took over. Television, the Internet, and social media were excited to announce the rebirth of Twinkies. Television personality,  book author, and weatherman Al Roker tossed Twinkies to fans. They were on Jimmy Fallon and the Ellen Show. Marketing Twinkies on college campuses and promoting with celebrities such as Will Farell, Snoop Dog, and Howard Stern opened gates to many orders from stores.

Praise from bankers


According to the Forbes article, ” What they have done at Hostess should be a Harvard Business School case study on how to turn around a business.” In the future, Metropoulos will consider making more deluxe versions of Twinkies.  The growing Hispanic market is his target too.

This excellent management story shows how bright minds can reach victories in areas where everything seemed lost.

How about the healthy side?

Do you ask how about the nutritional value of Twinkies? I doubt if somebody cares about this issue. Most important that customers like it. They missed it. Despite the information, emotional connections are secure, which is not favorable to Twinkies. Nobody could argue that this product is not tasty or looks terrible. The choice is up to the customer, and the customer is always right.

People will always prefer so-called junk food over fresh but healthy food. Maybe someday it will be Twinkies with squash filling; who knows?

I wonder if, in the business world, people must show assertiveness. I mean, what kind of business are they supposed to lead?  The company which serves people, makes a positive impact, or demonstrates the brilliance of management in every area where opportunity shows up?

Now I know what is going on after digging deeper into books. It is the same as with all junk food: sugar addiction. The body craves nutrients. We look for something pleasant to fulfill this gap, but the choice is harmful. Junk food does not have vital nutrients such as minerals, enzymes, fatty acids, or proteins. Besides it, the overuse of sugary foods removes critical minerals such as magnesium from the body. When you lack minerals, enzymes, and vitamins, your body cannot perform simple functions correctly. Update. Hostess, a maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs, bought the Cloverhill bakery. Previously bakery had over 1000 employees. Now, after automatization will be fewer of them. People will get more processed food, and analysts are pleased with the future. Earnings power will be higher in 2019.

Would you like to be your boss? Would you like to do what you want to do? How to fish for freedom?

When you have a passion or hobby, it is easy to create a business. There are plenty of areas where you can succeed, especially if you are the best in what you do.

You are not alone in looking for ways to be free and work and create products and services for others. Millions of people dream about independence and the time when they will be open to doing what they want to do.

Time passed, and many human beings stayed with the same dreams. No action, no progress. Without moving from the dead point, you never will reach for freedom unless you are a great mind reader and can predict people’s lives.

“Give me a fish, and I will eat for today; teach me how to fish, and I will eat for the rest of my life.” (Ancient Proverb)

Do not test the water with both feet


Fools finish their jobs and run into uncertainty. They are tired from countless work hours and from monotonous activities. Sometimes the patience runs dry. People want to change their lives right away.

I understand this frustration. Anyway, we must diligently analyze our capabilities and resources. What will you do when you will leave the job and will see that you need more time to prepare yourself for the new business? You need to pay bills, small or significant. Maybe you have a family or loved ones who need your support.

Quitting and running from problems does not change the situation. If we leave jobs without planning what to do next, we will be in more prominent misery than we were before.

You need carefully explore all options, make a plan, stop procrastinating, and start to work on your passion or goal. You can do both things: keep your job and prepare for the next transition to freedom. Of course, you will have less time. You can be tired or frustrated. However, remembering that everything takes time and perseverance will strengthen you and keep your spirits up during your journey.

As I mentioned, it is not wise to quit your job. It does not matter how it annoys you. Think about your passion and move step by step towards your goals.

These steps are:

  • Your research about desired topics.
  • You spent some time on your hobbies.
  • When you see that you can monetize your passion, you can quit your job.

You can use books, pamphlets, scientific magazines, and articles on websites for research. Of course, you can not copy the entire content entirely. You must point out the source of information. Librarians, business friends, the Internet, college friends, and professionals in your desired field can help you acquire skills and enrich your understanding of reaching your goals.

I understand freedom as the condition when I can do what I want to do on my terms.

Do you get smarter? In this information age, everybody uses the computer and knows how to google one or another term. Do you get more thoughtful? The information on the Internet can be fake or real. How can you differentiate false news from the truth?

Fake news versus real news


I think if you do not hide somewhere in the jungle without the Internet, you follow some stories about the critical election in the USA.  It is funny to see how fake news influences so many people.

Everybody can create a website nowadays. Write content, add images, and spread it on social media using popular hashtags. You can get followers fast enough because people like to know what is going on.

If you have protection for your website, nobody will see who the owner is. Convenient, is not? The pattern is the same as many years ago. There always will be people who take advantage of others. Fortunately, if you will know how to choose, you will be protected from disappointment. It works in all areas of life. Politics or great dinner they all get feedback which can be falsified.

Words on paper can lie. The feedback can be written by people who have never been to this restaurant. What can you do? Word of mouth, in this case, works. Respectable and independent sources of information provide facts and pieces of evidence — Consumer Reports in the USA work without influence from companies and manufacturers.

Is it worth of time?


We see people, and most of them are hungry for information. Do they check what they read? The data can be good food for the mind, or it can be junk food for us.

Children are sensitive to information. They absorb every word they hear on TV, at home, or outside. They can not decide what is wrong and what is right for them. I think that it is the same with adults. They are mesmerized by empty shows and endless TV series. The information provided on TV keeps them stagnated like glue.

Everybody who writes a book, creates a show, movie, or play, or has a website influences people. What forces visitors will get and choose is to opt for them. We can stuff our heads with information that does not have a real foundation. It is just gossip or lazy imagination.

Of course,  if we want to escape reality, we go to the movies, play video games, or use gadgets that transfer us to the virtual world.

Unfortunately, in the end, we are back to reality. What happens? If we have a pleasant, relaxing experience, we can think of better positive thoughts, expand our imagination, and adapt it to reality.

It is confusing nowadays that people follow emotions, not facts. The reliability of points is essential. Why?  Because if we believe everything that is said to us without checking and proving, we will stay in one place without progress or go back to the Middle Ages.

The perfect example is fake profiles on Facebook, which use the information to mislead people. It is easy to pretend that you are a natural person, but the reality is different. It is the same with dating sites where teenagers from Nigeria hide behind computer screens and lure victims to the scam nets.

Emotions are part of our lives. However, Nature created us to think, not just react to various triggers. If we do not believe so, everybody can manipulate and push us in a convenient direction for somebody else. Of course, if you do not care about the consequences, you can live on autopilot. Robots are in the same way. Somebody programmed them, and they perform various tasks. It is your choice what to choose: freedom of the mind or convenient nonexistence.

We need to be wise regarding what we read, watch, or listen to. Our minds do not have enough capacity to acquire all the information from the whole world. If we do not brighten the space in our heads using meditation and contemplation techniques, we will have clustered minds.

It is not an emergency. We can not move forward without accurate and proper information.

We have limited time. If we want to achieve something in our lives, we must choose carefully. It works for everything. Our health, finances, and decision-making depend on our choices. We have what we prefer. Nothing or nobody is to blame.

It means that we must be smart about everything. Choosing the right mentors, friends, where to live, and education would help us move on from one step to another. The quality of life depends on our decisions. We do not waste time proving what is right and what is not. Independent sources provide complete information that we can use to make up our minds regarding various topics.
