What has to do with the fat and chicken correlation with Randy? Randy is a man who got a spurring to his leg from a rooster a few decades ago. He was a skinny teenager, eleven years old. Now he is a big man who continually tries to outsmart the body’s fat.

In her book The  Secret Life of Fat, Sylvia Tara explains why Randy got himself in this situation where nobody could understand his weight changes.

How did It happen?


Randy is from a family where everybody is slim. Unfortunately, after the accident with the rooster, Randy started to gain weight. It did not matter how much he forced himself to eat fewer pounds added up quickly. Randy was up and down between 200 and 230 pounds. He did not remember when he last time ate bread or pizza.

Fat and Chicken Correlation

Can viruses make chicken fat?


In India, doctor and scientist Nikhil Dhurandhar searched for answers: can viruses cause chicken fat? His friend, a veterinarian pathologist, finds out that the virus SMAM-1 killed thousands of chickens in India. Necropsy showed that fat was deposited in the abdomen. Nikhil thought about the influence of viruses on people. Maybe a virus can make people fat?

Nikhil Dhurandhar experimented with chicken and discovered that healthy chicken infected with SMAM-1 became fat. He thought about people because he had an obesity clinic in India. Atkinson explains three ways how it can happen:

It increases the uptake of glucose from the blood and converts it to fat

It enhances the creation of fat molecules through fatty acid synthase, an enzyme that creates fat

It enables the production of more fat cells to hold all the fat by committing stem cells, which can turn into either bone or fat, into fat. So the fat cells that exist are getting bigger, and the body is creating more of them.

The direct correlation between  Ad-36 in chickens and humans were not directly studied. Dhurandhar and Atkinson have researched many cases showing the Ad-36 contribution to obesity. Unfortunately, skepticism between colleagues still exists.

Studies done in labs show that Ad-36 has correlations with obesity. At this time, there is no treatment for Ad-36.

However, Richard Atkinson assures that ” if you have had the virus, and predisposed for the gain of fat, what you eat and how much you exercise is still in your control. You may have to work harder at it.”

What is healthy food? Healthy food is nutritious without harmful substances and chemicals. Healthy eating provides fuel for the body. Additionally, healthy food keeps all body systems intact and balanced. Besides, healthy food is safe. It does not matter how long we use it. There are no side effects.

What Is Healthy Food?

Healthy food must provide vigor, keep the body resilient to illness, and prevent various diseases.

How Many Healthy People Are Around?


Stress is a common thing in modern society. There are plenty of ways to lift the mod and feel energetic and balanced for a short time, active and balanced.

Caffeinated drinks, sodas, and various food supplements keep people in shape. How long? It depends on genetics and lifestyle.

Plenty of us does not have time to have a proper breakfast or lunch. Fast food does not have nutritional value compared with pure, fresh, and nutritious food.

If we drink soda during mealtime, we get plenty of sugar. Eight teaspoons are in one glass of fizz. We get a flush of energy. Unfortunately, later on, we feel exhausted.

It proved that it takes one generation of people to become obese when food quality changes.

You know this saying that we are what we think. We are what we eat; the phrase fits here too.

The Quality of  Food


Health food stores are around. Consumers have multiple choices. How can they pick the best product from thousands of items?

Sometimes people can not choose the best food. They pick the best-looking product, thanks to a nice-looking label or advertisement.

Products can be heavy with sodium or hidden sugar. Products with a long shelf life are not so good because vital nutrients disappear.

Check your Feelings


When you have your dinner or breakfast, analyze how you feel. Are you energetic, or would you like to take a nap? Are you thirsty, or do you feel heaviness in your belly?

According to Ayurveda, food for the meal must fit into our palms put together. Our stomach is small, a bag of muscles. These muscles churn the food. Gastric juice softens the feed, breaks it down, and pushes it forward to the bowels.

If we overeat, the stomach loses elasticity. Muscles can not properly churn food because there is too much food.

People have surgeries to make their stomachs smaller. Could it be better to eat less and avoid painful procedures?

What is Healthy Food?


Wholesome food is healthy and nourishing. A fresh, nutritious diet provides for the body material. Thankfully, this material is vitamins, proteins, enzymes, amino acids, minerals, etc.

We do not need to consume large quantities of food. Small portions can fulfill us if food is fresh and nutritious.

Real Horror Stories

Horror stories are for Halloween time. Real horror stories are for those who would like to be awake from the dreary present or want to be shaken to the core.  These people are hungry for in-depth sensations; they are just bored.

I prefer happy endings over scary. Life is a great experience. I would wish that nobody would experience something horrible in their lives. Anyway, shit happens as the main hero told in the movie Forrest Gump.

How can it be scary?


I am not a fan of real horror stories or movies. I read a few books about Stephen King and saw the movie The Shining.  These creators are brilliant, and they know how to impress people.  I know that nowadays, these fiction stories are not a big deal compared to real-life events.

There are more scary stories that I read in Dr. Carolyn Dean’s book Death by Modern Medicine.

I got this book when I wrote a research paper in college. The teacher asked us to compare two different things in our work. I heard about this book from actress Shirley MacLaine. I bought it and read it.

I could not believe what I read, but this book was actual. Everything that is written is facts.

How Are You Brave?


Dr. Carolyn Dean describes in her book Death by Modern Medicine one study. This research shows that a patient who gets a full-body CT scan is exposed to a radiation level equal to that of atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki.

The book’s author could not believe it and emailed Dr. Brenner, who published this research paper. The answer was that if somebody was two and a half kilometers from the epicenter, where the bomb dropped, they got the same exposure as a single CT scan. Uh, no fun.

Get Up from Couch


We all want to live happy and satisfying lives. We can complain that something is wrong or somebody is unfair to us. It does not change anything.

We must think and do what is suitable for us, our families, and the community. If we find comfort in eating, smoking, or some attractions, we will be in the same situation because these habits do not solve our problems.

More than 90 million Americans live with chronic illnesses. The direct cost associated with physical inactivity was over 76 billion in 2000. The indirect and direct expenses related to smoking were 75 billion annually. These numbers can go on and on because this book is the source of objective facts.

These facts are so scary that I could not forget them after reading this book a few years ago.

Nancy Appleton, on her website, writes about sugar. I am a big fan of chocolate. I do not want to give up on it. But… The author gives over 100 reasons why we must use less sugar.

Not everybody has a strong will and can get rid of comfort food right away.

However, rethinking our strategies would be a significant step toward our well-being.

Nancy Appleton backs her statements with research papers. She does not make up her comments about these sweet things.

Few statements make me shiver.

  • Sugar can lead to alcoholism.
  • Sugar may cause premature aging. Oh no, not for us.
  • Sugar can weaken eyesight and cause hypoglycemia, copper deficiency, asthma, etc.

There are more than 100 reasons why we could give up on sugar. If these facts do not carry you,  it is your decision.

Real Horror Stories

These horror stories are real. If you want to have a Halloween mood before November, you can read this book. Points in the book Death by Modern Medicine came from mainstream medical research. Data from science, medical journals, and statistics are genuine.

I think it is good to be lost in a fantasy world, but we live here, in a real one. Here was a myth that the bird ostrich likes to put its head in the sand and pretend that nobody will see him. However, you will find another picture and story when you search for facts.

These real horror stories are excellent remedies for everybody who wants to expand their understanding of the real world.

  An Update

Today, on January 17, I listened to the show Fresh Air on the NPR. The host presented the book The Danger Within Us written by the doctor and medical journalist  Jeanne Lanzer. When I listen to these stories, I feel that I live in a surreal world. Why? I cannot believe that it could happen. For example, nobody pays attention to the side effects of medical devices.  Some of the patients in the book acknowledged that they would be better without tools because there is plenty of pain and uncertainty about how this device will behave in the future. Victims are not just ordinary people but health professionals who had hip surgeries, for example.

Shit happens as Forrest Gump told. However, why not be informed and make decisions by gathering facts?
